A cold front moved North to South across southern NY and northern NJ Thursday leaving superb flying weather at the Flying W. By evening we had severe clear with unlimited visibility. Many pilots arrived from the north and got a chance to get their tech inspections completed, read and sign the waiver, and go practice in the box.
Bill Gordon, Hans Bok, and Charles Schumacher from Chapter 35 arrived from the north. Many Chapter 52 members are here. The photo shows Bill's Pitts S2B parked on the Flying-W ramp with an airport cautionary warning. Click the photo to read the sign.
Miriam Levin and Deanna Willson have registration in full swing. We missed Miriam with this photo; but Deanna is on the right checking-in Unlimited pilot Dennie Thompson. The man on the left is Contest Director Ron Chadwick. We are fortunate to have Volunteer Coordinator Ann Salcedo all of the way from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. John Prince is giving technical inspections.
We have beautiful trophies and polo shirts for competitors. The woman in the photograph is Kathy Jaffe.
Box markers are out with the judging line assembled and clearly visible from the air. This crazy pair tried a low performance takeoff from Flying W runway 19. The Flying-W bar hosted us for dinner and drinks after sunset with the planes put-away.
The forecast is clear weather with warm temparatures. Break out the sunscreen. Get ready for lots of flying.
